I've been taking self portraits for the past five years and I tend to use always the same techniques so I was wondering if there's any self portrait freak out there to compare notes!

I have two cameras, a Nikon D40 (best camera ever) with a Nikkor 18-55 lens and a Nikon D700 (I love it!) with a Sigma 24-70.
After setting the scene I either use the 2 seconds delay and a wireless remote to trigger the D40 or I simply set the camera on 10 seconds delay which gives enough time to position myself.
I don't have a remote for the D700 so I either set the self timer on 10 or 20 seconds.

Getting the lens to focus could be a nightmare so I wonder what people have tried. I've heard some set up the camera on interval shooting to allow the camera to focus properly and have time to change pose, adjust things etc without leaving the scene.

I'm curious to hear what other techniques people are using?
